2006 "Goblisk" Ensemble at Wake Forest University's Ring Theater
On the campus of the Children's Home, WSYAI Celebrates the idea that through non-violence youth can learn the power of their voices and visions to effect change in their own lives, our community and beyond! The Goblisk Ensemble composed 140 poems, monolgues, raps and lyrics that were adapted into a 50 page script.
2005 Advanced Development summer - ”Mr. Bones“ film project partnership
In 2005 the first advanced development summer was held at Centenary United Methodist Church. Youth received advanced instruction in writing and design and production for film. Youth wrote resumes, interviewed and worked as production assistants on the full length independent film ”Mr. Bones.“ Youth were coached and choreographed by Tyhm Kennedy in the Recreation Scene of the film. Eight youth acted in the film. Youth working on the film were paid by the film company.
2004 Walking on Water
At the Parkway United Church of Christ, Green Street United Methodist Church and Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, our Walking On Water Ensemble went introspective and explored the persona of their lives, writing from the internal engines that drive matters of the heart, mind and soul. In two weeks the ensemble composed 150 poems, monolgues, raps and lyrics that were adapted into a 50 page script.
2003 Day by Day
At Parkway United Church of Christ, Performance Space 211 and Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, our Day by Day ensemble explored the slice of life rituals of, day to day life of each participant; their personal struggles and triumphs with family, school, church, and the law. In two weeks the ensemble composed 120 poems, monolgues, raps and lyrics that were adapted into a 50 page script.
2002 Home and Hood
At The Diggs Gallery, Performance Space 211, and Southeast Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) our Inaugural Home & Hood Ensemble explored the interpersonal, societal and civic dimensions of the neighborhood. In two weeks the ensemble composed 90 poems, monolgues, raps and lyrics that were adapted into a 50 page script.
